tigre delta

In Tigre Delta, a one time performance, I wear a suit made from handcut intaglio and relief prints of various wood grains into the Tigre River wetlands near Buenos Aires. The suit was created as a tribute to "Wild Men" or "Wild Women", ancient mythical figures that were covered with hair and often depicted in the artwork and literature of medieval Europe. Colorful hair symbolized their "wildness" and connection to nature. "Wild Man" costumes are used to this day during certain festivals around the world, in rituals that allow the disguised to walk the boundary between man and animal, spiritual and real, civilization and nature. I created my own "Wild Woman" disguise over the span of one month with the generous support and assistance of the Proyecto Ace Foundation.
